Want Guaranteed Bedding & Room View At Royalton??

If you have had the opportunity to travel within the last couple of years, you realize that full patience has to be packed to enjoy yourself on the trip. Flight cancellations to destination wedding dates not being available and the shortage of staff can sometimes make you want a post-vacation afterward.

So, when you use a resort chain with a reputable history and notify the management ahead of time in writing of special requests and they respond confirming receipt of your message, you assume these items would be handled. Well think again…hold onto your horses, because the experience I encountered while traveling with wedding guests for a destination wedding was a bit unbelievable.

Let me first start with as far as I am aware, Royalton is the only resort chain that allows you to choose your actual room (fee applies), so you can choose your location and/or confirm connecting or nearby rooms. Hmmm, let me make sure I get this straight…I pay to upgrade to an Oceanview room from a mountain view room with a double bed, but if you oversell your inventory and I don’t pay EXTRA beyond the thousands of dollars already spent, I don’t get to have what I paid for?? And you don’t refund me the difference of my $$ for the inconvenience?? Where do they charge you over $4500 for 2 rooms for 3 people with a Diamond Club experience, don’t deliver and you better be satisfied with it at?? WTH am I missing???!!?

There were a host of other issues at the Royalton Antigua resort that my group encountered at the end of August of this year, but for sake of brevity, we are going to stick to the focus of the paid room category and not receiving it. However, before I finish this, I would be remiss not to provide a few warnings to anyone utilizing a motorized scooter. We had three in our destination wedding group! The elevators are small and can only accommodate one at a time. The elevator floor is not flush to the exit way causing the user or someone with them to lift the scooter to exit the small space. The path to the Caribbean restaurant is so poorly lit and the ramp planks so uneven the groom’s 89-year-old mother toppled over on her scooter and broke her tooth. Also, the elevator to the spa was broken, so on top of everything, the 89-year-old poor thing had to walk up two flights of stairs to get a massage to soothe her body aches which she had to pay for after the tumble!

If it was not for the staff at the Royalton Antigua and the awesome services and experience provided at the Spa, rest assured my review would be less than a 3-star rating.

In sharing the unfortunate encountered issues at Royalton Antigua with my travel peers, I have heard plenty of similar dissatisfied voices. I hope Royalton is taking measures and addressing concerns being brought forward. As we all know that when voices began to unify people take note and support those who support them by ensuring clients are taken care of to the best of their ability or making things right, so people don’t feel cheated after spending their hard-earned money on a well-deserved escape or holiday.
