10 Must-Do Things When Visiting a New Place

Are YOU like most folks nowadays and feel like you are in information overload  mode? Well, we’re gonna keep this tidbit about visiting new places short and sweet! We’re giving you 10, but if you pick just three, you can check off a major win in your quest to travel.

      1. Visit Food Festivals – One of the best ways to experience a city’s food culture is by attending a food festival. Cities often have different food festivals throughout the year, like a BBQ or beer festival. It’s an excellent opportunity to try local dishes and meet both locals and other tourists.
      2. Take a Food Tour – Going on a food tour is a memorable experience that allows you to taste the best dishes a city has to offer. Usually, food tours are led by a local tour guide who will take you to the best-hidden gems in the city that are often missed by tourists.
      3. Explore Night Markets – Night markets are a great place to experience a city’s street food scene. It’s also an excellent opportunity to shop for souvenirs, clothing, and other native products. Some famous night markets include the Shilin Night Market in Taipei, Taiwan, and the Temple Street Night Market in Hong Kong.
      4. Visit Rooftop Bars – Many cities have rooftop bars that offer a fantastic view of the skyline while enjoying a drink or two. Some notable rooftop bars include Sky Bar in Bangkok, Thailand, and the Ozone in Hong Kong.
      5. Attend Cooking Classes – Taking a cooking class is a fun way to learn the secrets of the local cuisine. Often, cooking classes are held in small groups and led by professional chefs, making the experience even more enjoyable.
      6. Go on Bar Crawls – Take a bar crawl and visit several bars in a single night. You can meet new people and try different drinks along the way. Some cities have bar crawls that specialize in specific beverages such as whiskey or craft beer.
      7. Check out Live Music Venues – Live music venues are the perfect places to listen to music while having a drink, especially if jazz is your cup of tea. Some popular live music venues include Snug Harbor in New Orleans and Blue Note in Tokyo.
      8. Experience Speakeasy Lounges – Speakeasy lounges were once secret bars during the prohibition era, and they offer a nostalgic experience that brings us back to the past. Today, some cities still have hidden speakeasy lounges that require a password or a secret entrance.
      9. Try Cocktail Bars – Cocktail bars are places to go for classy and sophisticated drinks. Mixologists create unique cocktails that you won’t find anywhere else. Some popular cocktail bars include Dead Rabbit in New York City and The Aviary in Chicago.
      10. Visit Nightclubs – If you’re looking for a night of dancing and partying, a nightclub is a place to go. Cities have nightclubs that cater to different types of music, from EDM to hip hop.

These are just a few of the many things that you can do when visiting a new place. I hope these suggestions help you to have an unforgettable trip. Remember, don’t try to squeeze in too much, pace yourself, Lord knows, you don’t want to need a vacation from your vacation, which is so easy to do!!
